National Hot Dog Day
Hot Dog day is always celebrated on July 23rd.
Americans favorite finger food and summer staple is the “Hot Dog”
Smothered by some with onions and chile, or onions and mustard.
Others prefer it almost burnt over open fires and coals?
Yet, some prefer sauerkraut and a blended mustard.
Hot dogs are center stage on the grill, and at picnics all across America.
They are at the local ballparks and behind the cars on grills.
They are sold from carts on street corners in many cities and always at a restaurant.
Hot dogs were first pure sausage? Fact.
Homer’s Odyssey mentions them, and as the oldest recorded writing.
Homer wrote:
“As when a man besides a great fire has filled a sausage with fat and blood and turns it this way and that and is very eager to get it quickly roasted. . .”
Bet that was new to you?
